Description of the race:

Starting from the alleys of Etigny de LUCHON, we will follow in the footsteps of the pioneers who won the Aneto peak on July 20, 1842 - Indeed, Mrs TCHIHATCHEFF, DE FRANQUEVILLE and SANIO accompanied by the Luchonnais guides REDONNET, SORS and ARRAZAU from LUCHON to conquer the roof of the Pyrenees by this same route.

If the first part is rather wooded, arrival at the Hospice de France allows you to discover the rest of the events -

the climb to the Port of Vénasque.

The landscape is not at all the same, we start to climb in altitude and approach the high mountain.

At first impressive, the climb is in fact regular - Then we pass near the Boums refuge named after the lakes of the same name. First splendor that are these high mountain lakes. Then the ascent to the Port of Vénasque, austere, cool, and there once you arrive at the pass, it will be impossible for you not to stop, so magnificent is the spectacle before you.

The entire Aneto massif in all its splendor is spread out in front of you. This image will, for sure, remain etched in your head forever. Even the initiated always stop at the Port of Vénasque to enjoy the spectacle that is before us.

Unfortunately, you have to leave this magical place to reach Luchon via the Port de la Picade and the Pas de L'escalette, then dive into the Pique valley to reach the alleys of Etigny.

A superb course which will undoubtedly leave only beautiful images to all those who will come ... and come back.
